Pyotr Tchaikovsky

The life he lived was earmarked with profound hardships and grief. His training and interest in music was not a steady course and was often segmented with long periods of employment that were far from his passion.

But it was a life-changing experience that would influence the dramatic works that audiences enjoy today. When Tchaikovsky heard the opera composition, Don Giovanni, by Mozart, he confidently knew that he wanted his life pursuit to be music.

Commonly known by his last name, Tchaikovsky was a Russian Composer born on May 7, 1840, in a small town outside of Moscow. At the young age of 5 years old, Pyotr began piano lessons. Within a few years, he was able to read music at a level that was equal to his instructor.
