Baroque

Baroque (1600 - 1750's) is a style of painting that aims to present movement. Energy, Dramatic display, Exaggeration of action, and Extravagant details to showcase wide ranging activity. This time period was a break-away from the subdued and somewhat staged compositions. This was an art period which the artists wanted to captivate their audience; to allow the viewer to feel as if they have arrived at the painting (or work of art) witnessing a moment in time as if the activity of the event was now suspended in time.
