George Floyd Square: A Community – Sigh of Relief

March 25th 2020, George Perry Floyd Jr. was killed in Minneapolis at what is now memorialized as George Floyd Square. On Tuesday, April 20th 2021, a jury found former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin, Guilty of his murder.
In the months since Mr. Floyds death there has been public outcry, protests, marches, and lobbying. The essence of these efforts address the anguish and despair of ill treatment and disregard that the Black Community has experienced historically. And through all of this – there has seldom been true justice or accountability.
Minneapolis and countless cities across the globe saw a wealth of murals erect. These arts in the name of Black Lives Matter, depicted images in the likeness of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland and countless others killed at the hands of law enforcement.
Now, we breathe a sigh of relief with The Floyd Family, Minneapolis and compassionate humanity as a whole for the verdict that has come forth. We pray healing. That the work for new beginnings that embody confidence; to be members of society with decency and integrity. And that an intolerance for injustice, inequality and inequity will take Center Stage.
