The Majestic and Magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral was built during 1163 – 1345 ,,, taking over 200 years to complete. On 15 April 2019, beneath the roof of the Notre dame de Paris Cathedral, a structure fire began to ravish the iconic landmark. Throughout the centuries, the cathedral has faced significant hardships as related to destruction and repair. Enduring volatile, shifting climates of wars and leadership changes, Notre Dame has managed to survive through some of the most uncertain times of history. Here are a few notable instances that share in the renowned and rich history of the prestigious Notre Dame de Paris accompanied by paintings that include the vital structure within their works.

The famed novel, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” written by Victor Hugo in 1831 influenced a campaign to further restore the half-ruined cathedral.

The wedding of Mary Queen of Scots to Francis, The Dauphin of France, took place at Notre Dame in 1558.

Today, many people are watching the labored efforts that are being put forth to restore the damage that has been inflicted upon the historic pillar. Many donations have been pledged to assist with the rebuild of the property and as the audience of the world, we await the unveiling of masterful restoration.
