As a COLFA student, you will have access to knowledge and understanding that spans the globe through our departments of History, Political Science and Geography, and Modern Languages and Literatures. You will discover the genius of writers, philosophers, artists, and musicians across the ages through our departments of English, Philosophy and Classics, Art and Art History, and Music. You will engage in timely research on language and communication through our department of Communication and our programs in linguistics, translation and interpreting, and professional and technical writing. You will gain humanities-informed career preparation in our interdisciplinary programs in Medical Humanities, Healthcare Interpreting, and Museum Studies.
School of Art
The School of Art offers a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art, a Master of Arts in Art History, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art, a Bachelor of Arts in Art, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Criticism, as well as a Minor in Art History and Criticism. The College of Liberal and Fine Arts also offers a Minor in Museum Studies. These degree programs subscribe to the College of Liberal and Fine Arts Signature Experience through practical experience achieved in the following courses: ART 4833 Internship in the Visual Arts, ART 4983 B.F.A. Senior Seminar and Exhibition, and AHC 4933 Art Gallery and Museum Internship. UTSA is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. UTSA Art students have access to facilities at the Arts Building and West Campus Studios at the 1604 Main Campus as well as the myriad of workspaces and studios at the newly integrated UTSA Southwest Campus.
UTSA Art Gallery
The UTSA Art Gallery, located at the 1604 Main Campus and the Russell Hill Rogers Galleries, located on the UTSA Southwest Campus, exhibit work from local, national, and international artists.
South Texas
Our faculty, graduate students and alumni continue to greatly impact the Texas and the national art community, through exhibitions, publications and curatorial projects.
Along with Art Pace, the Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Sala Diaz, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Southwest School of Art, and the McNay Art Museum, the Department of Art and Art History at UTSA is one of the major art institutions serving South Texas.
